The Carroll County Solid Waste Management Commission is seeking an energetic, organized, and forward-thinking professional to serve as our Education & Environmental Management Coordinator.

This is a unique opportunity to lead both public education efforts and our Environmental Management System (EMS) – including managing six active environmental projects and driving sustainability initiatives across the region.

If you enjoy a mix of project management, public outreach, and environmental leadership, this position offers meaningful, hands-on work with visible impact.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the Environmental Management Representative (EMR), lead the Commission’s EMS program, and coordinate six active environmental projects
• Research, identify, and secure grant funding opportunities for environmental programs
• Develop and deliver public education programs on recycling, waste reduction, and sustainability
• Work closely with local media, haulers, schools, and community organizations
• Track program performance and help improve environmental outcomes across the service area
• Support recycling and office operations
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• Strong communication and public speaking skills
• Interest or experience in environmental programs, recycling, or sustainability
• Computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and utilize new software applications
  
  

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $26-30 per hour ($54,000-$62,000 annually, depending on qualifications)
• Retirement: IPERS (Company contributes 9.44%)
